Spork Island sits at 946 Penn Avenue, in the heart of Pittsburgh's Cultural District, one block from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. There are more than 2,000 covered garage spaces within a five-minute walk of our front door and because we open at 5 PM, you'll almost always catch downtown's flat evening rates.

Street parking (and why you'll probably win)

City meters along Penn, Liberty and the surrounding blocks are only enforced Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM. After 6 PM, and all day Sunday and on city holidays, metered spaces are free.

Since our doors open at 5 PM, that's one hour of meter time at most — and if you're arriving for a 6 PM reservation or later, you're not paying anything at all. Pay by app during enforcement hours with GoMobilePGH, ParkMobile, PayByPhone or Meter Feeder.

A few captain's notes

  • Tuesday and Wednesday nights are wide open. Downtown clears out after the workday and the Convention Center Garage is running. If you'd rather not think about parking at all, these are the nights.
  • Check availability before you leave the house. ParkPGH.org shows real-time open spaces in every downtown garage, updated live. It's genuinely useful on a theater night.
  • Big night in the Cultural District? When there's a show at the Benedum, Heinz Hall or the Convention Center, garages fill earlier and some switch to event pricing. Arrive fifteen minutes ahead of your reservation and you'll be fine.
  • Rideshare and taxi. Drop-offs and pickups on Penn Avenue right at our door. Late on a Saturday, this is the least complicated way to end the night.
